Photography Exhibition by Barry Cawston
Much of Barry Cawston’s photography is cinematic in approach and often has a sociological/political element which, coupled with a strong sense of composition, gives a painterly quality to his photography.
He works mainly on a large format camera and learnt much of his craft in the darkroom. In 2010 He added a Nikon digital camera to his travel bag which he now uses in tandem with his ‘old style’ Wista though still in a considered (analogue) style.
Cawston’s work has been increasingly recognised within a fine art context which has seen him win several awards including the Paintworks South West Art Award for 2010 and being an invited artist for the RWA’s second Open Photography Competition in 2011.
